China firmly opposes and strongly deplores the U.S. move to ban Chinese laboratories from testing electronic devices such as smartphones for the U.S. market, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at press briefing in Beijing on Friday.
It was reported that the United States will start the ban in December 2028, following a regulatory order approved by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission on Thursday.
"The United States has overstretched the concept of national security, abused state power and unreasonably suppressed Chinese companies. We firmly oppose and strongly deplore it. The U.S. move severely hampers normal trade and economic exchanges between Chinese and U.S. companies and does not serve any party's interests, including the interests of American enterprises and consumers. China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its justified and legitimate rights and interests," Guo said.
