All the diesel to the United States will find its buyers, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday, in commenting on media reports speculation about alleged course change of Russian oil tankers destined to the U.S..

Russian diesel exports to the U.S. will proceed as planned, Peskov said, urging observers not to link the alleged course change of Russian oil tankers to the result of the U.S. midterm elections.

The details of sailing of the Russian oil tankers cannot be made public, according to Peskov.

Peskov also emphasized that the U.S. midterm elections are part of the country's internal affairs, adding that U.S. President Trump will continue to exercise his presidential duties and pursue his foreign policy.

There were media reports that Russian oil tankers bound for the U.S. have changed course after Democrats and local government authorities in the U.S. state of New Jersey issued threats against the companies involved.

On Oct 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump reached an agreement on supplying Russian diesel to the U.S. and global markets.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Thursday placing Russian assets of Japan Tobacco International (JTI) under temporary administration.

According to the decree, equity stakes linked to JTI's production operations in Russia have been put under the management of Russian company Industrial Assets.

JTI, a leading global tobacco producer, has operated in Russia since 1999 and grown into Russia's top tobacco producer. Global cigarette brands such as Winston, Mevius, Camel, Sobranie, Glamour and LD, as well as domestic Russian brands Russky Stil, Pyotr I and Troika, are part of JTI's portfolio.

The presidential decree of the Russian Federation "On the Temporary Administration of Certain Property," adopted in April 2023, establishes a mechanism for placing certain assets owned by individuals and entities linked to countries designated as unfriendly by Russia under temporary administration.

The measure was introduced in response to what Moscow described as the seizure of Russian assets abroad or restrictions on the property rights of Russian owners.
