China and African countries are a natural community with a shared future, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a press briefing in Beijing on Friday.
Guo made the remarks in response to a question on a Forbes article comparing the Chinese policy on Africa with that of the United States.
"China and African countries are a natural community of shared future. China has always upheld the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith, and supported Africa's development, revitalization, and pursuit of strength through unity," said Guo.
"Starting from May 1, 2026, China has fully implemented the zero-tariff treatment for 53 African countries with which it maintains diplomatic relations. African agricultural products and light industrial goods are entering the Chinese market more easily, with specialty products such as avocados, coffee beans, pecans and shea butter reaching thousands of Chinese households. In the first nine months of this year, China-Africa trade volume exceeded 310 billion U.S. dollars, up 22 percent year on year. The zero-tariff treatment has effectively lowered China-Africa trade costs, and brought tangible benefits to more African small and medium-sized enterprises and farmers," he said.
"No matter how the international landscape may evolve, China will always remain Africa's most trusted and reliable partner. High-quality China-Africa cooperation will continue to help both sides join hands on the path toward modernization," said Guo.
