China's hydrogen energy industry has grown rapidly this year, with investment in the sector doubling in the first three quarters, according to the National Energy Administration on Thursday.
Data showed that in the first three quarters, total investment in China's hydrogen energy industry reached 28.7 billion yuan (about 4.29 billion U.S. dollars), up 108 percent year on year, a doubling.
In the same period, more than 10 new renewable hydrogen production projects broke ground, adding 100,000 tons of newly commissioned capacity.
To date, China's completed and operational renewable hydrogen production projects have a cumulative annual capacity of more than 350,000 tons, accounting for over 50 percent of global capacity, while projects under construction have an annual capacity of more than 1.2 million tons, both at a globally leading level.
By region, North China has the highest completed capacity which stands at 45 percent of the national total, followed by Northeast China at 36 percent and Northwest China at 15 percent. Among China's renewable hydrogen production projects, the scale of individual projects is rising rapidly, with projects of 10,000 tons or more accounting for nearly half.

The Russian edition of China's Governance and Worldwide Development Global Dialogue was held in Moscow on Thursday, bringing together a broad range of participants from both countries for in-depth discussions on China's governance experience and prospects for bilateral cooperation.
The session, co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Embassy in Russia, drew more than 100 guests, including government officials, business and media representatives, academics and college students.
Participants pointed out that China has explored a socialist development path suited to its national conditions, with equal emphasis on development and regulation, and has contributed Chinese solutions to global governance.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination. With bilateral cooperation steadily expanding across various fields, China-Russia relations have entered a new stage of greater achievements and faster development.
Attendees noted that the global dialogue provided an important platform for candid exchanges among people from around the world, expressing hope that the media could contribute more insights to stability and prosperity in both countries and globally.
"I think it's very important that the Communist Party of China (CPC) takes responsibility for the fate of the people and always puts people first. Another important aspect of the CPC's experience is that governance should be specific and clearly defined. This work should be clear and achievable," said Vitaly Mankevich, president of the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
The event also featured screenings of promotional videos for major CMG productions, such as "Records of Chinese Craftsmanship: Intelligent Robot Manufacturing."
Major Russian media outlets, including Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Komsomolskaya Pravda and Argumenty i Fakty, reported on the event.
