China and Australia can cooperate to pursue green transition as the former is developing relevant technology and the latter is abundant in minerals and other ingredients, said an expert in an interview with China Global Television Network.

David Morris, president of 1EarthVillage, a new platform for international connectivity and cross-cultural understanding, said China has the potential to play a leading role in advancing green transition and making the global economy more sustainable.

"This puts everything into context, when we think about the climate challenge that the world faces and the potential for China to play a leading role here in the green transition to a more sustainable global economy. China is developing the technology, the ability to roll out electric vehicles, which Australia welcomes. It's not afraid of them such as the United States and the European Union. And Australia, as you say, has the critical minerals, the lithium and other ingredients that are very important for those supply chains to feed into China's ability to lead us into this green transition. So there's a lot of common ground here, potentially between Australia and China. Let's hope that we can move this forward and we can find more productive cooperation for the green transition," he said.

Morris said green transition should be accelerated and Australia, with no protectionist agenda, embraces cooperation with China.

"We need to speed up this green transition because actually this is the biggest threat that the world faces, that the disruptions to our economies and to our societies from climate risk are very real. We know this in the Asia-Pacific. We know climate change will impact on China, on Australia very badly unless we act very quickly in this decade to make sure global warming slowed. And so China rolling out the solar panels, the electric vehicles, this is absolutely to be welcomed, and Australia, by the way, has a long tradition of supporting free trade. It's not a country that is inclined towards protectionism, at least not in the last half century. And so there's a real opportunity here for China and Australia to collaborate, because Australia has no protectionist agenda, which arguably is what might be partly what's going on with the United States and the European union, a move away from free trade, which is very dangerous for both China and Australia who benefit from free trade enormously," he said.

Xuanwu Lake Park, one of Nanjing's most iconic scenic spots, has broken its traditional summer slump this year by tapping into the nighttime economy, with evening visitor numbers surging over 30 percent year on year in July.

The park is one of the iconic attractions in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.

In previous years, the height of summer when the heat was at its peak was the park's off-season.

This summer, however, the park has seen a steady stream of visitors every evening.

As the sun sets and the daytime heat slowly dissipates, the entrances to Xuanwu Lake Park experience a surge in visitor traffic.

By 20:00, some local residents who love to sing, as well as bands, bring their own portable stereos to the park to perform.

Joining in a sing-along has become the main reason for many people to visit the park at night.

To offer residents and visitors an even richer experience, the park hosts a variety of nightly performances, including water-screen movies and holographic light shows.

Operating hours for many park attractions have also been extended; boat tours and sightseeing buses, which previously ended at 17:00 now run until 21:30.

Rong Feixia, director of Xuanwu Lake Park Management Office, said these measures have injected new vitality into the park, transforming it into a bustling nighttime destination.

"Our total number of nighttime visitors throughout July increased by over 30 percent year on year. Revenue from cultural and creative stores rose by 32.5 percent year over year and overall revenue from our self-operated projects including boat tours, sightseeing buses, and retail businesses around the lake grew by approximately 10 percent," she said.
