Greater Bay Area Film Concert 2024 wows audience from across China

The Greater Bay Area Film Concert 2024 took place on Sunday in China's Macao Special Administrative Region, bringing a memorable evening to the audience from across the country with a vibrant array of performances by renowned singers, filmmakers and Olympic champions.

Established in 2021, the concert has become a prominent cultural event in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), generating enthusiastic responses and fostering deeper cultural and social exchanges between the three regions.

This year's cultural program was filled with heart-touching elements to showcase the high morale of Chinese people in the joint pursuit of dreams, the notable achievements of the GBA and the enduring allure of traditional Chinese culture.

During the event, Olympic gold medalists from the mainland, including table tennis star Fan Zhendong and diving sensation Quan Hongchan delivered an enchanting performance with choral music featuring several patriotic songs such as "I love you China." They then joined hands with representatives of Hong Kong and Macao athletes to send their best wishes to the 15th National Games to be jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao next year.

The artistry of live music captivated audience of all ages as performers put a modern twist on some classic TV drama theme songs. American singer Richard Marx was also invited to perform one of his biggest hits --"Right Here Waiting."

"We participated in the performance of more than ten songs, which showcased the beauty of Chinese music and culture, and a thriving Macao and the Greater Bay Area," said Nie Xin, artistic director of the Macao Cross-Genre Fusion Orchestra.

"Today, I am very excited to see actors, singers and athletes from across the country. I also feel that our motherland is becoming more and more prosperous and stronger. As a Macao resident, I feel very proud," said a local resident Li Jinchao.

Liu Haixing, special envoy of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping, visited Laos on Tuesday to congratulate the successful convening of the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and Thongloun Sisoulith on his election as general secretary of the 12th LPRP Central Committee.

Liu, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a congratulatory letter from Xi to Thongloun and conveyed a message.

The message stated that China stands ready to work with Laos to advance the continuous development of a China-Laos community with a shared future, guided by the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties and two countries.

Thongloun expressed his sincere appreciation and extended warm greetings to Xi.

He noted that the new central leadership of the LPRP attaches great importance to developing relations with China and is willing to work closely with China to continuously elevate bilateral relations between the two parties and two countries to a higher level.
