China's second domestically built large cruise ship, "Adora Flora City", entered the interior outfitting stage in Shanghai on Thursday, with the internal layout design markedly improved compared with its predecessor.

The cruise ship completed its main hull assembly in Shanghai on Wednesday, marking a major leap forward in the country's shipbuilding capabilities.

The milestone, achieved in just nine months after the ship entered the dock of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd (SWS), over two months less than the duration for China's first large cruise ship, the Adora Magic City.

Compared with its predecessor, the Adora Flora City is significantly improved in many aspects. In terms of cabin layout, the number of guest rooms increases by 19, totaling 2,144. At the same time, there is a 16-story living and entertainment area, including a large performing arts center, a shopping plaza, an art corridor and other facilities, highlighting the characteristics of Guangzhou, the Flower City.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2026. Zhou Qi, chief builder of large cruise projects at SWS, said that improving construction efficiency is the main goal of the design of the cruise ship.

"At present, the overall progress of the project has reached 54 percent, and progress in shipbuilding has reached 43 percent. In 2025, we expect to complete 70 percent of the interior outfitting of the cruise ship, ensuring that it will be completed and delivered on schedule in 2026. During the design and building process of the second ship, we focused on improving efficiency and conducting research on techniques and process methods, with a goal of shortening the total work hours by 20 percent and reducing the overall cost by 15 percent," Zhou said.

Footage filmed at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in southwest China's Sichuan Province shows three giant pandas eating side by side, their relaxed, child‑like manner drawing attention.

The footage, filmed on March 5 at the base's No 2. Giant Panda Villa, shows one panda slowly approaching two other cubs who are eating heartily, and eventually sitting down with them to enjoy the delicious meal together.

The three pandas sit at ease, interacting with gentle familiarity and mirroring human‑like behavior.

The Chengdu base is a world-renowned facility for ex-situ conservation, scientific research and breeding, public education and eco-tourism. It is globally recognized for protecting and breeding endangered Chinese wildlife species such as giant pandas and red pandas.
