A slate of highly anticipated Chinese films during the Spring Festival season premiered simultaneously in many countries and regions across the globe, garnering popularity and praise from international audiences.

China's 2025 total box office surpassed 11 billion yuan (about 1.5 billion U.S. dollars) as of 14:43 on Tuesday, including real-time presales, driven by the strong performance of Spring Festival films.

This year's Spring Festival lineup is a feast of Chinese film IPs, featuring a diverse range of genres including martial arts, mythology, and animation. Multiple sequels and classic adaptations have hit theaters, attracting a wide audience.

Creation of the Gods Part II: Demon Force, a mythological epic, was released in 16 countries and regions, including the United States, France, the UK, and Bulgaria. The film achieved significant milestones, topping the box office charts in Australia and New Zealand for four consecutive days.

In North America, it became the highest-grossing non-English film of the week, while in France, it received the highest rating among all films released during the same period on the local cinema scoring system.

"It's an amazing film, 10 out of 10. Yes I'm a huge fan of Chinese cinema. I think what I really want to appreciate about Chinese movie is their ability to inspire," said Richard, a moviegoer in America.

"I really enjoyed it, I loved the first one (Creation of Gods: Kingdom of Storm), I enjoyed the second one as much. And I'm really looking forward to the third one. It was great," said Chris, a moviegoer in Australia.

"I think the Creation of the Gods II is even better because it presents new and more serious themes throughout the film while leaving a bit of suspense. I'm already waiting for the third one," said Andronika Martonova, a cinema critic.

Detective Chinatown 1900, the fourth installment in the Detective Chinatown franchise, landed the cinemas of various cities in Spain during the holiday. The film set a new record for overseas distribution of Chinese-language films, with screenings in 213 cinemas across North America and 93 in Australia and New Zealand.

"I came to watch this movie because I have a strong interest in Chinese culture and I hope to travel to China one day," said Ricardo, a resident in Madrid.
