Leveraging the allure of the F1 Chinese Grand Prix, Shanghai is hosting a series of cultural events aimed at boosting both cultural and tourism consumption by offering visitors a wide array of experiences.
The F1 Chinese Grand Prix took place in the city from Friday to Sunday, drawing around 220,000 visitors.
Capitalizing on this momentum, the 2025 Checkered Flag Carnival was held in Shanghai from March 16 to 23, providing visitors with a chance to experience the roaring atmosphere of Formula One racing.
The event also offered visitors the opportunity to savor local specialties and engage in cultural activities such as Chinese calligraphy and seal cutting.
Building on the excitement around the race, the Shanghai Auto Culture Festival is scheduled to run from March 21 to April 25, during which 25 activities will be held.
Meanwhile, a variety of related activities are being held in major commercial districts across Shanghai.
Last year, the F1 Chinese Grand Prix generated a direct economic impact of 1.4 billion yuan (about 192 million U.S. dollars) for Shanghai, with a broader pull-through effect approaching 4 billion yuan (about 547 million U.S. dollars).
