A highly skilled test and launch team has been built up in the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center through full-process simulation training, comprehensive talent cultivation and interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance proficiency for the Shenzhou missions in China's manned space program.

The test and launch team at a comprehensive training center in northwest China's Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center utilizes the "Dongfeng-X" training platform to conduct precision measurement training for rocket installation.

This tangible training platform, created by the center's engineers through reprocessing rocket debris, refurbishing equipment and integrating small projects, closely mirrors the various segments of a real rocket. It enables comprehensive training from component level to system level, significantly enhancing quality and efficiency.

Prior to the establishment of the training center, the launch site has no facilities for training, posing challenges and hindrances to various missions.

"This training center enables us to make theoretical training explicit and easier to grasp in the first place. For example, for the blueprint teaching, now we have many ways of simulation modeling. We can turn it into something three-dimensional through simulation, making it more visual. In fact, we can even turn it into a physical object, using parts dismantled from previously salvaged debris. In essence, the underlying principles are the same. This form of teaching and training represents a qualitative leap from before," said He Pengju, an engineer of the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.

Operating for two years, the training center has developed a full-chain training system encompassing theory, simulation and practical training, with 3,000 trained personnel and a curriculum covering 70 percent of the professional skills in the test and launch system. Meanwhile, the training period for operators has been shortened by 50 percent. The team's ability to handle complex malfunctions has been effectively enhanced, providing high-quality and reliable professionals for the country's major launch missions from Shenzhou-16 to Shenzhou-20.
