Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Vice President of Liberia Jeremiah Kpan Koung in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province, on Thursday.

Koung attended the opening ceremony of the Fourth China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended congratulations on Liberia's election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

He said that China is ready to strengthen solidarity and coordination with Liberia, practice the vision of multilateralism, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, especially African countries. China's foreign policy remains consistent and stable, and China stands firmly with developing countries and speaks up for small and medium-sized nations, said Wang.

China appreciates Liberia's commitment to the one-China principle and its support for China's legitimate stance, which also reflects a defense of the basic norm of non-interference in internal affairs in international relations, said Wang, noting China will continue to render mutual support to Liberia.

Wang said that during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September last year, President Xi Jinping met with President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, and established a new positioning of the strategic partnership between the two countries, opening a new chapter in China-Liberia relations. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state and the joint efforts of both sides, political mutual trust between China and Liberia has been increasingly consolidated, and cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture and mining, maritime affairs, and other fields has continuously achieved new outcomes, said Wang.

China is ready to work with Liberia to continue to implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state and the key measures of the Summit, maintain the positive momentum of bilateral relations, and deliver sustained benefits to the people of both countries, said Wang Yi. The relationship between China and Liberia is one of South-South cooperation and mutual support between friends, said Wang, noting that China is ready to provide assistance within its capacity in accordance with Liberia's development needs.

Koung said that China is a reliable friend, noting Liberia will continue to uphold the one-China principle, support China in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stand on the side of peace and justice.

He expressed appreciation for China's long-term, selfless support and assistance to Liberia, saying that China's zero-tariff policy for African countries has brought significant benefits to Liberia. Liberia is willing to work with China to continue implementing the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state and advance cooperation in various fields such as maritime affairs, green energy, healthcare, and agriculture, said Koung, noting Liberia supports the series of global initiatives proposed by China and is willing to join hands to achieve common prosperity.

China's movie industry is increasingly deriving its earnings from broader consumer economy.

Released during the 2025 summer season, the film "Nobody" became China's highest-grossing two-dimensional animated film -- and its success went beyond theaters.

Through licensing and brand partnerships, the movie has generated 2.5 billion yuan (about 358.3 million U.S. dollars) in retail sales to consumers, with more than 800 licensed products on the market.

Ranging from plush toys to food and home goods, the movie-related merchandise can be purchased from over 3,000 online and offline outlets.

Meanwhile, souvenir stores are crowded at Shanghai Disneyland's Zootopia themed land, with hats, plush toys, and collectibles seeing steady demand from visitors.

"China's film industry is no longer defined by box office revenue alone. It has become a new growth engine that links and energizes multiple cultural sectors. At the heart of every successful film is strong storytelling. High-quality productions create cultural value, which in turn enhances the commercial value of intellectual property and opens up new consumption opportunities. I believe China's film industry delivered an outstanding performance in the past year," said Chen Xiaoda, vice dean of Shanghai Vancouver Film School.
