Authorities in Rome, Italy, have rolled out multiple measures, including setting up first-aid stations and improving access to public drinking points, to help residents and visitors cope with scorching heat that has pushed temperatures close to 40 degrees Celsius.
Despite the heat wave, many scenic spots in Rome remain popular destinations for tourists from all around the world.
The Italian National Tourist Board predicted that Italy will retain its status as one of the world's top summer travel destinations in 2025, with over 18 million international air arrivals projected, an 18 percent year-on-year increase.
"It's very hot, it's very warm outside, but we're from Florida so we're kind of used to the hot weather," said an American tourist.
To reduce heat-related health risks, Rome's authorities have introduced series of measures, such as deploying street-side first-aid stations and offering free access to public pools for seniors aged 70 and above.
In addition, more than 3,200 public water stations in the city also provides relief from the heat.
To improve accessibility, Rome's water utility department has launched a multilingual mobile app to help users locate these drinking fountains.
"We drink a lot of water. We have downloaded an app to find free water stations. It really helps us stay comfortable," said another tourist.

Building a strong PLA Navy embodies the Chinese nation's long-cherished aspiration of striving to be a strong naval power and serves as an important guarantee for realizing national rejuvenation. In the new era, under the firm leadership of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Military Commission and President Xi, the modernization of the PLA Navy has become increasingly solid and powerful.
