Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will meet with cabinet members on Tuesday for discussions on the trade negotiations with the United States, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported, citing an announcement made by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
The announcement came after U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday that he will impose a 35 percent tariff on imports from Canada starting on August 1.
Carney will also meet with provincial premiers on the matter on July 22, according to the PMO.
The office noted that the government will firmly defend the interests of Canadian workers and enterprises in the trade negotiations with the U.S.
