China's civil aviation sector set new traffic records in the first half of the year, as operational efficiency continued to climb and the industry's push for high-quality development advanced further, the national civil aviation authorities said on Tuesday.
China's civil aviation sector notched fresh records in the first six months this year, with airlines logging 78.35 billion ton-kilometers of total transport turnover, handling 370 million passenger trips, and carrying 4.784 million tons of cargo and mail, up 11.4 percent, six percent and 14.6 percent year on year, respectively, according to data released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). In the January-June period, China added 123 air routes for international passenger airlift, boosting overseas traffic by 28.5 percent year on year, according to the CAAC data.
Domestic and international cargo and mail volumes climbed 8.9 percent and 23.4 percent, respectively, over the same period of last year, with 16 new international cargo destinations added, said the CAAC.
China's civil aviation sector continued to raise the bar on efficiency in the first half of the year.
Aircraft daily utilization averaged nine hours, up 0.2 hour year on year, while nationwide on-time performance reached 91.7 percent and jet-bridge usage rate at China's ten-million-passenger-grade airports rose to 85.5 percent, up 5.3 and 1.7 percent year on year, respectively, according to the CAAC.
