Any attempts to distort the history of World War II (WWII) or to whitewash war of aggression are doomed to fail, said Jiang Bin, spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, during a press conference in Beijing on Friday.
Jiang made the remarks in response to a question about the recent release of a series of WWII films in China, including Dead to Rights and Dongji Rescue.
He emphasized that the lessons of bloodshed must never be forgotten and that historical tragedies must never be repeated.
"During WWII, Japanese militarists launched an aggressive war and committed atrocious, inflicting catastrophes to the Chinese people and others around the world. Today, an increasing number of people have come to understand the inhuman brutality of Japanese militarism and the heroic resistance of the Chinese and global peoples against Japanese fascists through films, television, and other means, deepening their understanding that peace does not come by easily," said Jiang.
"More and more international friends have voluntarily donated historical evidence exposing the atrocities committed by the invading Japanese army, and made them public to the world. Faced with such solid proof, any attempts to distort the history of WWII or to whitewash war of aggression are doomed to fail," Jiang said.
