The first ever static display of China's J-20 stealth fighter jets will take place during an aviation open-day event in Changchun, the northeastern province of Jilin, according to a press conference held on Thursday in Beijing.
The aviation open-day, hosted by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force, is scheduled from Sept 19 to 23. Themed "soaring in the sky, winning the future," it will feature a range of exciting displays and performances, said Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang.
"This event will display over a hundred types of active-duty aircraft, ground equipment, and classic retired equipment of the Air Force. It will feature the first static display of the J-20 and the first-ever flypast by a bomber formation. China's aerobatic teams of Bayi, Hongying (Red Eagle), and Sky Wing will also deliver spectacular performances," he said.
According to the spokesman, the open-day event will set up immersive experience zones for the public, including flight simulators, drone operations, and parachuting.
"The event will feature an Air Force-themed exhibition hall, along with zones for pilot recruitment, air traffic control, and ground branch academy admissions. An aviation culture salon will be set up, and a series of activities such as an annual drone conference and performances by the Air Force military band will be organized. Outstanding Air Force pilots will also interact with the public," said Zhang.
