Xi noted that he and Tokayev had recently met in the Kazakh capital Astana back in June, and hailed the strength of relations between the two sides.

"Our meeting after just two months fully reflects the high level and special nature of China-Kazakhstan relations. No matter how the international situation changes, the two sides should remain committed to good-neighborliness, pursue openness and mutual benefit, and remain firm in working together to build a community with a shared future. The two sides should firmly support each other on issues concerning core interests and major concerns, consolidate and expand all-round cooperation, and bring China-Kazakhstan relations to a new level," Xi told the Kazakh president.

Tokayev expressed strong support for China's SCO presidency and also noted that ties between the two countries are now higher than ever.

"We fully support China's SCO presidency and actively engage in promoting the broad agenda of this organization. I also want to extend my congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. With your support, Kazakhstan-China relations are developing at an unprecedented level," Tokayev said to Xi.
