An international communication symposium commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held in Beijing on Saturday.
About 150 people, including scholars in international communication from around the world, as well as lecturers and students from the prestigious Peking University attended the event.
The event comprehensively reviewed the significant contributions made by foreign friends in communicating the important information of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and explored how to better tell stories of China and the world in the new era in order to carry forward the great spirit of the War of Resistance.
One of those figures featured in the discussions was the American journalist Edgar Snow, known for his writings on the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese Communist revolution in the 1930s, with his best known work being the book "Red Star Over China", a detailed account of the Long March led by the CPC.
Eric Foster, the nephew of Snow's former wife Helen Foster Snow, who was herself a former journalist in China, was among the guests who delivered a speech.
The symposium came amid a series of commemorative events in China, which is set to culminate with the staging of a grand military parade in Beijing on Sept. 3.
