Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin on Sunday.

Noting the two successful meetings they held since the beginning of this year, Xi said he and Japarov have comprehensively planned the development of China-Kyrgyzstan relations and reached broad consensus on deepening all-round cooperation.

Xi said China is willing to continuously work with Kyrgyzstan, firmly support each other, advance the synergy of development strategies of the two countries, move forward hand in hand on the path of national modernization and rejuvenation, and build a close China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future. Xi stressed that both China and Kyrgyzstan should uphold fundamental principles and break new ground, forge ahead in a pioneering spirit and promote the in-depth development of practical cooperation.

The two countries should lift the level of economic and trade investment, deepen connectivity, increase sci-tech empowerment, and expand cooperation in emerging fields such as clean energy, green minerals and artificial intelligence, Xi said, adding that the two sides should strengthen cooperation in culture, tourism, education, health and other fields to enhance people-to-people ties.

Xi said China will fully support Kyrgyzstan in taking over the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), support Kyrgyzstan in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs, and strengthen multilateral collaboration with Kyrgyzstan to jointly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and make new contributions to promoting world peace and development.

Japarov said China is a good neighbor and good friend of Kyrgyzstan. As an old Chinese saying goes, "Good neighborliness is a national treasure." The most valuable advantage of Kyrgyzstan is to have China as a neighbor. At every difficult moment, Kyrgyzstan has received firm support and assistance from China.

Under President Xi's strong leadership, China has achieved tremendous development and become an important engine of the world economy. Kyrgyzstan is willing to learn from China's experience and strengthen cooperation with China in areas such as connectivity, clean energy, artificial intelligence and scientific and technological innovation to better benefit the people, Japarov said.

On issues involving China's core interests, including affairs related to Taiwan, Kyrgyzstan will, as always, firmly support China's position, Japarov said.

During China's tenure as the rotating chair of the SCO, the influence of the organization has been further enhanced, and cooperation in various fields has been steadily advanced. Kyrgyzstan is willing to strengthen collaboration with China to promote new development of the SCO, he said.

Kyrgyzstan highly appreciates and supports the three major global initiatives proposed by China, and is willing to strengthen multilateral coordination with China to jointly safeguard international fairness and justice, Japarov said.

The two sides signed bilateral cooperation documents in areas of connectivity, human resources, civil aviation and sub-national cooperation.
