Venezuela unveiled a memorial plaza and monument in Caracas on Wednesday, commemorating the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, with President Nicolas Maduro and Chinese Ambassador to the country Lan Hu in attendance.

Names of China's 34 provincial-level regions encircle the monument, forming a powerful emblem of Venezuela's enduring solidarity with the Chinese people.

In his address, President Maduro expressed deep gratitude for China's pivotal role in securing victory in the World Anti-Fascist War.

"Here, we built this memorial sculpture and this magnificent square as a tribute to the 80th anniversary of the victory in Chinese people's resistance against fascism," he said.

Later that evening, the Chinese Embassy in Venezuela hosted a commemorative reception, honoring the occasion.

In an exclusive interview with China Media Group (CMG), Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez praised China's commemorative event, calling President Xi Jinping's speech "inspiring" and underscoring the event's profound relevance amid the turbulent global landscape.

She also hailed the Global Governance Initiative proposed by President Xi at the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus" Meeting in Tianjin on Monday, saying that the initiative is of great meaning to the world's development.

"In 2021, we witnessed the launch of the Global Development Initiative, followed by the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Security Initiative. More recently, the Global Governance Initiative was proposed. These initiatives are all of great significance, aiming to rebuild an international order conducive to all peoples, recognize the status of international law, ensure that international relations underpinned by international law, and permanently recognize the sovereign equality of all nations," she said.
