The China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) has provided crucial networking opportunities for global service providers, while managing to impress members of the public with displays of entrainment and technology.

More than 100 enterprises and institutions have released nearly 200 innovative achievements at the five-day event in Beijing, which is scheduled to conclude on Sunday afternoon.

The 2025 CIFTIS is open to the general public from Saturday to Sunday, welcoming visitors with reservations free of charge.

"Both the number of exhibitors and the enthusiasm of the visitors have exceeded my expectations. Exhibits on the categories of culture and science and technology have broadened my horizons," said Wang Fan, a visitor.

"I have homework on technology this weekend. So I came here to broaden my horizons and learn about the development of science and technology in China, which can help me apply what I have learned," said Wang Siyuan, a young visitor.

The scale of this year's CIFTIS is vast, with 85 countries and international organizations -- including Australia, Germany and the World Intellectual Property Organization -- taking part.

Nearly 2,000 companies are exhibiting on-site, including close to 500 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry-leading enterprises like Walmart, AstraZeneca and KPMG. The fair's participants hail from 26 of the world's top 30 countries and regions.

Australia is the guest country of honor at the 2025 CIFTIS, with 60 Australian companies participating in the event, spanning sectors like education, tourism, finance, healthcare, architecture and food and beverages.

"I will be in China for the next week, visiting partners, and I would expect some of the partners, potential partners we've met at CIFTIS, to be continuing those conversations," said Schgaard Smith, an Australian exhibitor.

Service providers from across the world have experienced a similarly successful fair and have recognized its potential as a platform to promote cooperation.

"We will come in the next year too in the CIFTIS exhibition to get some more clients and more exposure," a Pakistani exhibitor said.

"Every minute I meet someone, we talk about how we can partner together to do business between our countries. I view it as a great event, very important, world renowned. I think everybody knows that this expo is a reference in China and in general in the world for trade services," said Edgar, a Mexican exhibitor.

A growing number of Chinese energy companies are increasing their presence in the Persian Gulf as they get deeply involved in the region's energy transition.

As a highlight of China-Gulf cooperation, green energy projects carried out by Chinese companies in Gulf states gained spotlight at the 18th World Future Energy Summit, which took place from Wednesday to Thursday in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

A shining example is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai. As one of the largest single-site solar parks in the world, the solar thermal plant is a key project to help Dubai achieve its carbon reduction goals and significantly increase the share of clean energy in the city's power mix.

"Upon completion in 2030, it will exceed 8,000 megawatts, and it will reduce 8.5 million tons of carbon emmissions on an annual basis. And it will raise Dubai's clean energy capacity up to 36 percent," said Ali Hayat, a senior engineer of the project.

In recent years, more and more Chinese energy product suppliers have transitioned to a new role as investors by building plants and regional offices in the Gulf region to deepen their participation in local energy transition.

"China has been absurdly in the lead in both ways -- in providing technologies that make the cost of solar panel to be affordable around the world, and also in an amazing increase of the share of renewable energy in the energy system," said Francesco La Camera, director-general of the International Renewable Energy Agency.
