Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has inspired representatives attending a grand gathering celebrating the region's 70th founding anniversary to make further contributions for the region's development.
The grand gathering was held in Urumqi on Thursday. Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, joined local officials and representatives from all ethnic groups and all walks of life at the event.
Many representatives expressed their excitement and pride in being part of such a grand event.
"It comes as the greatest care for all ethnic groups in Xinjiang when General Secretary Xi Jinping led the central delegation to attend the celebrations in Xinjiang. I am deeply moved and feel very excited," said Longjike Kader, a voluntary border guardian from Tajik Autonomous County of Taxkorgan.
"This is my second time participating in celebrations marking the founding anniversary of the autonomous region. I am truly happy to see our country thriving. Now, we enjoy good food and clothing, and superb transport facilities. The CPC is so great," said Abdureyim Kurban, a local resident.
Some representatives, who were invited to speak at the event, expressed their joy and highlighted the remarkable improvements in their lives.
"As a grassroots representative, I feel immensely inspired to participate in such a grand meeting. In the past, children in our area had no access to kindergarten, but now they can attend standardized kindergartens and learn standard Mandarin. This transformation has taken a long time. The CPC Central Committee has offered strong support to the preschool education in Xinjiang, especially in southern Xinjiang. Now, from a young age, our children get to understand that all ethnic groups are closely united like pomegranate seeds, bound together by mutual love," said Amragul Abdu, a kindergarten principal from Bachu County.
"While delivering my speech, I felt so emotional in the middle that I was nearly moved to tears. As a bus driver, I have witnessed Xinjiang's development firsthand. I've seen our roads expand from two lanes to six, with these overpasses. This happy life we enjoy is inseparable from the support and care of the CPC Central Committee for Xinjiang," said Gu Xiangfeng, a bus driver.
Highlighting the historic significance of the anniversary, they also expressed confidence in the region's future prosperity and pledged to make more contributions from their respective posts.
"The General Secretary's visit holds historic significance in guiding Xinjiang's development in the next phase. Xinjiang is progressing rapidly, particularly in technological innovation. Xinjiang is becoming increasingly important in connecting with Central and West Asia, and countries along the Silk Road. Our country has provided us with a vision to establish joint laboratories of international cooperation. By leveraging Xinjiang's resources, we will collaborate with Central and West Asian countries on joint research. With robust national support, Xinjiang's future is poised to be even brighter and more beautiful," said Wushouer Silamu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, also a professor at Xinjiang University.
"Xinjiang has undergone tremendous changes. Our generation must focus on building a skilled, knowledge-based, and innovation-oriented industrial workforce. As road maintenance workers, we are committed to dedicating our strength to the goal of building China into a nation with strong transportation networks," said Li Changqing, a worker from a road maintenance station of Tacheng Prefecture.
"Four generations of my family have guarded the border on the Pamir Plateau. My father was the prototype for Amil, the main character of film 'Visitors on the Icy Mountain.' As the theme song 'Why Are the Flowers So Red' implies, the care of the CPC Central Committee and the dedication of generations of border guardians have shaped the current Xinjiang. As a border guardian, I am deeply grateful. We assure General Secretary Xi and the CPC Central Committee that we will steadfastly protect the motherland's borders, ensuring that Xinjiang's pomegranate flowers bloom ever brighter," said Kader.
