The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 65,926, with 167,784 injured since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on October 7, 2023, Gaza's health authorities said in a statement on Saturday.
Over the past 24 hours, Israeli attacks killed 77 people and injured 265 others in Gaza, the statement said.
Among the casualties, 17 people were killed, and 89 wounded while seeking food at aid distribution sites, the statement added.
More than 750,000 Palestinians have so far evacuated Gaza City to the Strip's south, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on the same day, as the military steps up its offensive there.
The number of people leaving the city has increased in the past week, it said, urging civilians to move to an Israeli-designated "humanitarian safe zone" in southern Gaza.
Before the IDF launched the major offensive, Gaza City was home to an estimated one million Palestinian residents.
