China urges certain countries to stop providing platform for separatist forces seeking Taiwan secession, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.

In response to a media query about the sneaky visit to Poland by certain figures of the Taiwan region, Guo reiterated China's opposition to any form of official interaction between the Taiwan region and countries having diplomatic relations with China.

"There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. The one-China principle is the political foundation for China to establish and develop diplomatic relations with countries having diplomatic relations with China, and a basic norm in international relations and a prevailing consensus of the international community. We always firmly oppose countries that have diplomatic relations with China engaging in any form of official exchanges with China's Taiwan region. We urge certain countries to abide by the one-China principle, stop providing platforms for separatist forces seeking Taiwan secession, and not to send any wrong signals to Taiwan secessionist forces," said Guo.

"We would like to emphasize once again that the frequent visits the Lai Ching-te regime has made recently under various pretexts are aimed at spreading lies and fallacies for Taiwan secession. They hype up the so-called 'threats from the mainland,' repeatedly advertise the fallacy of so-called 'democracy versus authoritarianism,' rope in external forces to embolden their vicious separatist attempts, and deliberately provoke antagonism and confrontation, revealing their malicious intent to turn the world into turmoil. No matter what the DPP authorities say or do, it cannot change the historical and legal fact that Taiwan is part of China's territory, alter the abiding commitment of the international community to the one-China principle, let alone hold back the historical trend toward China's ultimate and inevitable reunification," he said.
