Domestic travel for family visits and tourism remain at one of their busiest levels of the year across China on Monday, as the country marked the sixth day of its eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.

Nationwide, railways are expected to handle 16.4 million passenger trips, with 1,164 additional train services planned for the day. As Typhoon Matmo weakens, railway bureaus in Guangzhou and Nanning have gradually resumed train services that were previously suspended.

Meanwhile, multiple train stations in cities such as Harbin, Wuhan, and Nanchang surprised their passengers with Mid-Autumn Festival presents, as the traditional festival falls on Monday this year.

Road traffic volume across the country has seen a slight decrease compared with the day before, primarily consisting of short-distance trips for family visits and gatherings. The traffic volume on national expressways is expected to exceed 60 million vehicle trips. Short-term traffic congestion was anticipated on roads around popular moon-viewing spots, scenic areas, and coastal regions.

Waterway transport is forecast to handle 1.57 million passenger trips on Monday, representing a significant increase of 32.78 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

In civil aviation, airlines across China are expected to see 2.38 million passenger trips on Monday, a slight increase of 0.2 percent year on year. It is estimated that 18,694 flights will be operated, with an on-time performance rate expected to reach 90 percent.

China and Canada should work together to promote the stable, healthy and sustainable development of bilateral economic and trade relations, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng said in Beijing on Friday.

He, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while attending the Canada-China Trade and Investment Banquet together with the visiting Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Speaking at the event, He said that under the strategic guidance of the important consensus reached by their leaders, China and Canada should adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, win-win cooperation, and mutual success, and jointly promote the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of bilateral economic and trade relations.

China is steadfastly expanding high-standard opening up, continuously developing new quality productive forces, and is willing to work with countries around the world, including Canada, to create new prospects for cooperation, said He.

Carney noted at the banquet that China is Canada's second-largest trading partner and said Canada looks forward to strengthening high-level exchanges with China, making full use of dialogue mechanisms in areas such as the economy and trade, and deepening cooperation in trade, agriculture, energy and other fields.

Carney arrived in Beijing on Wednesday to begin a four-day official visit to China, marking the first trip to the country by a Canadian prime minister in eight years.
