China would like to advance dialogue and exchanges on export controls with all other countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.
Guo made the statement at a press conference in Beijing when asked to comment on U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's interview on Sunday, in which the senior U.S. official talked about the recent China-U.S. trade talks, including topics concerning China's control over the export of rare earths.
"As for the policy of control over the export of rare earths, China has already made clear its position thereon multiple times. The relevant measures adopted by China are intended to regulate and improve the export control system and are in line with common international practice," Guo said.
"The measures are intended to better safeguard world peace and regional stability, and fulfill international obligations, such as non-proliferation. We are willing to work with all other countries to enhance dialogue and exchanges on export controls and maintain security and stability of global industrial and supply chains," said the spokesman.
