The footage of two rarely seen yellow-throated martens, under second-level state protection, was recently captured in northwest China's Qinghai Province.
By the bank of Make River located in Bainma County, Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, the two small creatures were caught on camera having fun together and chasing each other, with the backdrop of floating ice slowly drifting with currents. The footage happened to be captured by a shutterbug.
The yellow-throat marten is named for its obvious yellowish-orange mark on its chest.
The wild animal has a long tail, pointed head, looking very similar to the weasel. Living in mountain forests and hilly areas, it mainly feeds on rodents, birds, eggs, insects and wild fruits.
