PLA conducts drills in waters, airspace to east of Taiwan Island

Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Monday conducted drills in the waters and airspace to the east of Taiwan Island.

The PLA Eastern Theater Command dispatched forces including destroyers, frigates and fighter-bombers to conduct drills such as maritime assault, area air control and submarine search and attack, testing capabilities in naval-air coordination and precision strike.

Hong Kong's stock market ended lower on Monday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 0.71 percent to close at 25,635.23 points.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 0.26 percent to end at 8,891.71 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index edged down 0.30 percent to end at 5,483.01 points.
