The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command is conducting joint drills involving regional patrols, aerial confrontation, and information support in the airspace to the southwest of the Taiwan Island on Monday, a military spokesman said.
During the exercises, the PLA Eastern Theater Command has deployed fighter jets, airborne early warning aircraft, electronic warfare aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The drills aim to test the troops' capabilities of coordinating multiple types of aircraft and seizing air superiority, said Shi Yi, spokesman for the PLA Eastern Theater Command.
