A Chinese central government spokeswoman on Wednesday sternly warned the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities in Taiwan that any of their separatist attempt by ingratiating themselves with Japan is nothing but a dead end that will only make trouble for Taiwan itself.

Zhang Han, spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the statement at a press conference in Beijing in response to a media query about former Japanese foreign minister's and former justice minister's recent sneaky visits to China's Taiwan region.

"Over a recent period of time, the Japanese side has frequently spread wrongful remarks and taken wrongful actions on Taiwan-related issues. We firmly oppose this. We demand that the Japanese side conduct in-depth reflections and draw lessons from history, take concrete actions to uphold the one-China principle and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, and stop making all wrongful statements and deeds related to Taiwan," Zhang said.

"We solemnly warn the DPP authorities in Taiwan that ingratiating themselves with Japan for separatism is making trouble for Taiwan and is a dead end," said the spokeswoman.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian on Wednesday thanked dozens of countries and international organizations that have expressed support for China's position on Taiwan, while firmly reiterating China's unwavering commitment to national sovereignty and opposition to separatist activities.

"Following China's announcement of relevant countermeasures and military exercises, dozens of countries and international organizations have expressed their support for its stance. Key supporters include Russia, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Indonesia, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Pakistan, Laos, Iran, Zimbabwe, Samoa, as well as international bodies such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the African Union (AU). These supporters have affirmed that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, the Taiwan question is purely China's internal affair, and they oppose any form of secession. They support China in defending its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, oppose external interference in China's internal affairs, and commit to adhering to the one-China principle. We highly appreciate the firm support from these countries," Lin said at a press conference in Beijing.

"We must reiterate that China's resolve is firm and unwavering, in safeguarding sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, as in defending national unification and interests, and as in curbing separatist forces from external collusion and bringing chaos to the Taiwan Strait," he said.

He concluded with a stern warning, asserting that "any egregious act of cross-line provocation on the Taiwan question will be met with resolute countermeasures from China, and any sinister attempt to obstruct China's reunification is doomed to fail."
