Photovoltaic power generation had officially overtaken coal-fired power generation and become the largest power source in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region by the end of 2025.

It has made Ningxia the first provincial-level region in China to achieve self-sufficiency in green electricity supply.

In recent years, Ningxia has vigorously promoted the development of new energy sources. By the end of last year, its total installed capacity of electricity had exceeded 90 million kilowatts, with the proportion of new energy installations reaching 63 percent.
