China's Spring Festival travel rush continued to build momentum on Friday, with an estimated 285.59 million inter-regional passenger trips nationwide, according to data released by the Ministry of Transport.
The figure, which covers the 12th day of the Spring Festival travel season, represents a 4.9 percent increase compared with the previous day and a 4.5 percent rise from the same period in 2025.
Railway systems are expected to handle 15.1 million passenger trips, marking a modest 0.5 percent increase from the previous day but a slight 0.6 percent decline compared with 2025 levels.
Road transport will remain the dominant mode of travel, with total road passenger volume anticipated to reach 267.11 million trips, up 5.2 percent day on day and 4.9 percent year on year.
Waterway passenger transport is estimated to handle 923,000 trips, showing a growth of 3.4 percent from the previous day and 6.5 percent from 2025.
Civil aviation is expected to carry approximately 2.46 million passengers, with volumes essentially flat from Wednesday at 0.2 percent growth, while posting a 3.4 percent rise compared with the same period last year.
