Multiple Chinese blockbusters hit cinemas across Oceania, North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia during the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, where local moviegoers expressed appreciation for the films and Chinese cultural riches they showcased.
In Melbourne, Australia, a screening of the martial arts epic "Blades of the Guardians" came alive as local moviegoers spontaneously organized a martial arts performance to kick off the event.
The film brings together a multigenerational cast of martial arts stars, including Jet Li and Wu Jing. Its plot follows a perilous escort mission to deliver the "most wanted fugitive" to Chang'an, the ancient capital of several Chinese dynasties.
Rich in Chinese cultural elements, the film offered foreign moviegoers an immersive visual feast, deepening their appreciation for the genre's artistic roots.
"I'm a big fan of martial arts and I also like Jet Li. If you like martial arts, if you like the action, then come and watch this film," said a moviegoer.
"I think it was really good at choreography. It was great action. I'm a big fan of Chinese history, so it was really interesting to see some really good sets and costumes, and Sui Dynasty, which doesn't feature a lot in film, so that was really interesting for me," said another.
"I really like the cinematography, the effects were really, really cool, and obviously the Wushu was fantastic," said another.
The excitement was just as strong in Sydney, where "Scare Out", a contemporary espionage thriller directed by Zhang Yimou, attracted bustling crowds to its screening.
"The movie was action-packed. It was a spy thriller that from beginning to end developed twists and turns, a lot of fun, and a very unexpected plot twist at the end," said a moviegoer.
"This movie is breathtaking. I couldn't take my eyes away," said another.
"I think it was incredible. The scenes were fabulous. There was a lot of moments that caught us by a lot of advertising adventures, and you're just really into it. The movie was fabulous, and I think everyone should come and give it a view," said another.
In addition to the two blockbusters, another Chinese film -- "Panda Plan: The Magical Tribe," starring Jackie Chan -- also hit screens in Malaysia. All of them won local moviegoers' appreciation and sparked greater anticipation for future Chinese films.
