Non-fossil energy consumption in China grew by around 160 million tons of standard coal equivalent in 2025, an all-time high for annual growth, according to the National Energy Administration.
Official data showed that China's non-fossil energy consumption accounted for 21.7 percent of its primary energy use in 2025, 1.9 percentage points higher from 2024, signaling the country's accelerated low-carbon energy transition.

The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society has condemned attacks launched by the United States and Israel targeting civilian facilitates in the country, saying they are a grave violation of international law and pose a serious threat to residents' health and the environment.
U.S.-Israeli strikes hit oil facilities in the capital Tehran and the neighboring Alborz province on Saturday night, setting them ablaze. An attack on one of the oil storage facilities in Alborz reportedly killed six people and injured more than 20 others, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
Vast clouds of black smoke have been seen rising above Tehran following the attacks, and the Iranian Red Crescent Society warned on Sunday that toxic compounds from the burning oil depots could cause dangerous acid rain if precipitation occurs.
In an interview with the China Global Television Network (CGTN), the organization's head Pirhossein Kolivand said that in addition to the oil depot, numerous civilian locations have also been hit, which he says shows the U.S. and Israel are violating international law.
"As you know, in the news they claim that they are only targeting military sites. But now you can clearly witness that civilian locations have also been targeted. Last night, not only this oil depot but several other areas -- including the east and south of Tehran and some other parts of the country -- were also hit and completely destroyed. This puts a lot of pressure on our dear people. Many civilian locations have been hit, and this is a violation of the Geneva Conventions, which they themselves have formed. The U.S. and Israel have proven that they do not abide by international law and are willing to commit any crime," he said.
Concerns are also mounting that the attacks pose serious health risks and a severe environmental hazard to residents, as the skies darken over Tehran.
"If you had come in the morning, you would have seen the whole city covered in smoke, which means severe air pollution, making it difficult even to breathe. This is especially dangerous for people with respiratory and cardiac problems, but it also affects ordinary people. The smoke is dangerous and can have a devastating environmental impact, some of which may be irreversible. This shows that the U.S. and Israel do not comply with any rules," he said.
The Israeli air force struck Iran's internal security command centers and missile launch sites in a new wave of attacks targeting Iranian targets on Monday, according to a statement from the Israeli military.
