Disciplined and auxiliary services to hold open days to promote National Security Education Day

To echo the National Security Education Day on April 15, the Security Bureau's eight disciplined services and auxiliary services will hold open days in such places as their training schools, a museum, headquarters, divisional premises or relevant venue on different weekends from late March to mid-April to deepen the public's understanding of the services as well as their work and achievements in safeguarding national security. Starting from tomorrow (March 17), members of the public can register for free admission tickets via the relevant disciplined services' websites. Admission tickets are not required for the open days of the Hong Kong Police Force, the Civil Aid Service and the Auxiliary Medical Service.

The Kai Tak Division of the Government Flying Service will be opened on March 29; the Hong Kong Correctional Services Museum and Community Education Experience Centre, and the Civil Aid Service Headquarters will be opened to the public on April 11; the "Little Grape"-themed park, located at Harcourt Garden in Admiralty adjacent to the Police Headquarters in Wan Chai and the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy, April 12; the Immigration Service Institute of Training and Development and the Hong Kong Customs College, April 18; while the Auxiliary Medical Service Headquarters, April 19.

Various activities will be organised by the services on the open days, including flag raising ceremonies, Chinese-style foot drills, rescue demonstrations, virtual reality training system demonstrations, flight simulator experiences, displays of firearms and equipment, working dogs' demonstrations and game booths. These activities will help members of the public to learn more about the services' responsibilities in preventing and defending against national security risks and raise public awareness of national security, and create a favourable atmosphere in safeguarding national security and law-abidingness of their own accord.

Members of the public are welcome to visit the websites of the relevant services for more information on the open days, and register to obtain tickets. Successful applicants will receive notifications from the organisers.

DH invites organisations to submit proposals for Outreach Oral Health Programme for Pre-school Children

The Department of Health (DH) will launch a new "Outreach Oral Health Programme for Pre-school Children (OOHP)" on September 1 this year to provide oral health services to pre-school children in all kindergartens in Hong Kong. The DH today (March 16) invites organisations interested in participating in the OOHP to submit service proposals. The closing date for submission is 9.30am on April 20.

Organisations interested in participating in the OOHP must meet all the following requirements:

  • be listed in Schedule 4 or Schedule 5 of the Dentists Registration Ordinance (Cap. 156) on or before the application closing date;

  • have established at least one clinic providing dental services to the public and have employed at least one registered dentist on or before the application closing date;

  • have employed at least one enrolled dental hygienist or dental surgery assistant on or before the application closing date; and

  • be registered as a healthcare provider in the eHealth on or before the application closing date.

The Government is implementing oral health policies and action plans in accordance to the recommendations of the Working Group on Oral Health and Dental Care, adopting the strategies of widely promoting among citizens across all age groups prevention-oriented primary oral healthcare while providing essential dental care services targeting underprivileged groups.

Oral healthcare during the earliest stage of life is extremely important. Establishing appropriate lifestyles during pre-school years helps children maintain lifelong oral and general health. The OOHPis a key component of the strategy of developing community-wide preventive primary oral healthcare, providing kindergarten students with free on-site oral screenings, oral health risk assessments and fluoride application as appropriate, as well as oral health reports for parents and individualised oral care advice. Additionally, participating organisations will conduct oral health talks for the teaching staff of kindergartens. The DH will send letters to all kindergartens introducing the OOHP to facilitate arrangements between participating organisations and kindergartens for students to join the OOHP in the new school year.

In evaluating the submitted proposals, the DH will consider the requirements set out in the invitation documents. Interested applicants may obtain the invitation documents from the DH's Community Dental Service at Unit 01-P03, P08-09, 26/F, One Kowloon, 1 Wang Yuen Street, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon, or via email (am3_cds@dh.gov.hk).

Applications must be submitted to the DH's Community Dental Service at Unit 01-P03, P08-09, 26/F, One Kowloon, 1 Wang Yuen Street, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon, by 9.30am on April 20, 2026. Late applications will not be accepted. For enquiries, please contact the Community Dental Service at 2111 3005.

The DH last year successively launched the "Primary Dental Co-care Pilot Scheme for Adolescents" targeting those aged 13 to 17, and the "Community Dental Support Programme" for underprivileged groups with financial difficulties (including the homeless). These initiatives aim to encourage the public to improve their oral hygiene habits, thereby enhancing their oral health through the retention of teeth and eventually achieving the goal of overall good health and well-being.
