China and Pakistan will make new efforts to maintain regional peace and stability, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.
She made the statement in response to a media query on whether Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Pakistani deputy prime minister and foreign minister, is visiting China to mediate tensions in the Middle East.
"China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners based on mutual trust and support. The two countries share similar positions and maintain close communication on major international and regional issues. I believe that the foreign ministers of both countries will strengthen strategic communication and coordination on international and regional issues of mutual concern, including the situation in Iran, jointly speak up for peace and justice, and make new efforts to promote peace talks and a ceasefire, and safeguard regional peace and stability," she said.
