The 6th China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) is set to take place on Monday in Haikou, capital of China's southern island province of Hainan, with final preparations -- including booth setup, media services, and security arrangements -- all completed.

According to the organizer, the Media Center for the expo will officially open at 14:00 on Monday, offering comprehensive services and support to facilitate media coverage of the event.

All eight exhibition pavilions are ready at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, the main venue for the expo. Highlight products including smart glasses, flying cars and service robots have already caught the attention of early visitors including exhibitors and reporters.

This year's CICPE features a dedicated purchaser service center, which will open a matchmaking platform exclusively for suppliers and buyers. As the first national-level exposition since the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) began island-wide special customs operation, the expo also has a special zone that introduces the FTP policies, a window for exhibitors to know better the investment and business environment of the FTP.

Besides, as Hainan will have persistent high temperatures during the expo, the local power grid operator, Hainan Power Grid Co., Ltd, has completed full-load testing and uninterruptible power supply connections for key venues to ensure stable electricity. Notably, the expo's exhibition pavilions and supporting facilities are running entirely on 100 percent green power.

In addition, the Haikou fire department has deployed personnel to the venues in advance for on-site standby. During the expo, firefighters will conduct 24-hour smart monitoring and grid-based inspections of electrical circuits to ensure that fire hazards are promptly eliminated.

To complement the expo, Hainan will also roll out duty-free shopping and cultural tourism vouchers, along with exclusive perks for expo ticket holders. It will also leverage its unique tourism resources to launch a selection of premium travel routes, extending the expo's influence from the exhibition halls to the entire island.

Peru held general elections on Sunday to choose a new president and members of a bicameral Congress.

Voting began at 7:00 local time across the country, with more than 27 million voters eligible to cast ballots.

Voters were electing a president, two vice presidents, 60 senators and 130 members of the Chamber of Deputies, marking the return to a bicameral legislature after 30 years.

Five representatives to the Andean Parliament were also elected as part of the election.

Peruvian President Jose Balcazar urged citizens to vote with "calm and serenity", adding that broad participation is key to strengthening democracy and ensuring legitimacy for elected authorities amid political instability in recent years.

He also said that sufficient guarantees were in place to ensure a transparent process, citing the deployment of armed forces and police, as well as the presence of international observers.

Over 100,000 members of the military and police were deployed nationwide.

After polling stations closed on Sunday, officials began the vote counting process. As some polling places are located in remote areas, it may take several days to fully release the final results.
