The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has officially launched HungerMap Live, a next-generation digital intelligence platform designed to transform global hunger data into early action.

Unveiled at the UN headquarters in New York City on Thursday, the platform integrates extensive food security data and analysis with predictive modeling capabilities. It is able to make AI-assisted forecast of food needs in WEP designated Hunger Hotspots.

Jean Martin Bauer, the WEP's director of food security and nutrition analysis, says HungerMap Live shares the organization's analytics from about 300 specialists all over the world with the general public.

By combining on-the-ground insights with critical data, HungerMap Live empowers decision-makers, communities, humanitarian agencies, and donors to intervene before hunger becomes fatal.

Some vessels carrying Iraqi oil have been allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, Iraqi President Nizar Amedi said on Saturday, following discussions between Iraqi and Iranian officials during a recent visit by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.

Amedi said Iraq had also conveyed a message to Iran on reviewing bilateral relations.

The Strait of Hormuz, between Iran and Oman, is a key route for global oil shipments. Shipping through the waterway has been disrupted by heightened regional tensions, putting pressure on Iraq's crude exports.

In separate remarks, Amedi said the Iraqi government must engage militia groups in dialogue and seek mutual understanding on weapons control in a manner that serves Iraq's national interests.

He said Iran had not asked Iraq to delay efforts to bring weapons under state control.
