The Beijing-Xiong'an express rail link has entered the joint-testing phase, bringing Hebei Province's "city of the future" one step closer to seamless connection with the capital.
Stretching 86.26 kilometers with eight stations, the line runs from Xiong'an New Area's urban terminal station through Baoding and Langfang cities in Hebei to Beijing Daxing International Airport, linking with the Daxing airport line of the Beijing subway.
Once operational, travel time from Xiong'an to Daxing Airport and to Beijing's Lize business district will be cut to 30 minutes and about 1 hour, respectively.
"After entering Beijing, the rail link will seamlessly connect with Beijing's seven subway lines, offering passengers a convenient travel experience. The Beijing-Xiong'an express rail link is of great significance for building the one-hour commuting circle between Beijing and Xiong'an, accelerating the evolution of intercity commuting towards a more integrated urban way of life," said Zhang Yaodong, deputy general manager of China Xiong'an Group.
On April 1, 2017, China announced plans to establish the Xiong'an New Area, located about 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing. It aims to build a green city spanning 1,770 square kilometers, featuring innovation and serving as a national model of high-quality development.
