The just concluded China Media Group (CMG) Film Culture Carnival in east China's Ningbo not only provided locals and tourists with diverse entertainment experience, but also gave the city's cultural and tourism spending a big boost.

The five-day carnival closed on Sunday after staging a mix of film-themed activities, including exhibitions, open-air movie screenings, and a cultural market.

"By bringing together high-quality film resources from both China and abroad, we've created themed exhibitions that enable audience to not only enjoy the films but also gain insights into the development of Chinese-language films and the history of world cinema. It can spark a deeper interest in films among audience and expand their imagination," said Wang Jing, deputy secretary general of the Zhejiang Film Projection Association.

Many in the audience said they loved the event.

"The movie selection is pretty diverse, and ticket prices are really reasonable. It's a great, beneficial experience for film lovers," said Zheng Mengxia, an audience member.

In Zhenhai District of Ningbo, the filming location of the domestic racing-comedy "Pegasus 3" has attracted over 80,000 visitors since the Spring Festival which fell on Feb 17, significantly boosting the business at nearby restaurants and homestays.

"I came because of the movie. When I actually got here, the place looked even more futuristic and stunning than it did on screen. It's like walking right into a movie scene," Su Yingying, a tourist.

Local businesses have reported a big increase in revenue.

"Our business has suddenly got a lot busier, and the revenue has increased significantly by about 30 percent to 50 percent," said Wang Xia, local merchant.

Data shows that the CMG Film Culture Carnival has attracted over 1.25 million visitors over the past five days, driven growth in traffic volume in surrounding commercial areas by over 20 percent and sales by over 25 percent, significantly boosting local cultural tourism and consumption in dining and accommodation.
