Chinese foreign minister will visit Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar from Wednesday to Sunday, which is expected to deepen friendship between China and the three Southeast Asian countries, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.
"Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and minister of foreign affairs, will visit Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar upon invitation from April 22 to 26. During his visit in Cambodia, Wang and Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun will together attend the first meeting of China-Cambodia '2+2' strategic dialogue mechanism between foreign and defense ministers," said Guo.
Calling Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar friendly neighbors of China, Guo said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and the leaders of the three countries, the building of a community with a shared future between China and the three nations has made further progress, injecting strong momentum into their respective national development.
"Cambodia is advancing its Pentagonal Strategy, and the new governments of Thailand and Myanmar have recently formed. All the three countries are at a crucial stage of development. China expects that the upcoming visit can deepen the ironclad friendship with Cambodia, enrich the familial bond between China and Thailand, and promote the China-Myanmar 'pauk-phaw' friendship, so as to bring greater benefits to the people of each country and contribute to peace, stability and prosperity across the region," said Guo.
