A traditional event "daubing your face black" was held in Mojiang Hani Autonomous County of Pu'er City, southwest China's Yunnan Province on Friday, the first day of May Day holiday, as people wish for good luck by daubing each others' faces black. The participants used black paint made of coffee powder and carbon powder at the carnival where all ethnic groups had fun together during the five-day holiday. As a traditional custom of the Hani ethnic group, the blacker one's face is smeared, the more blessings he or she receives.

"It's really fun. I bought goggles and earplugs in advance. Everyone just gave your face a light daub. It's well-organized," said Deng Chenyan, a tourist from southern China's Shenzhen City.

"Welcome to Mojiang! Happy May Day holiday! The blacker your face is smeared, the more blessings you receive. May everything go well!" said local residents.

Besides the face-daubing activity, Mojiang also held a twins-themed cultural parade, with pairs of twins of different ages from home and abroad celebrating together with great joy.

Mojiang is China's only Hani autonomous county, known as the "City of Twins" thanks to an unusually high twin birth rate.

The county has gained greater popularity with vacationers during the holiday, receiving more than 29,000 tourist arrivals on Friday, up 23.75 percent year on year.

OPEC said in a communique on Sunday that seven OPEC+ countries decided to increase their oil production cap by 188,000 barrels per day in June, in response to the withdrawal of the United Arab Emirates from the bloc.

The seven countries -- Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Oman -- made the decision during a virtual meeting on Sunday to review global market conditions and outlook. The increase, which will be implemented in June 2026, is part of adjustments to the additional voluntary production cuts first announced in April 2023.

The group said the voluntary adjustments could be returned gradually, either in part or in full, depending on market developments.

Reaffirming their commitment to oil market stability, the countries stressed the need for a cautious and flexible approach, noting that production levels could be increased, paused or reversed as necessary, including adjustments introduced in November 2023.

The seven countries also said the move would provide an opportunity to accelerate compensation for any overproduction since January 2024.

They reiterated their commitment to full compliance with the Declaration of Cooperation, with output levels to be monitored by the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee.
