The Thematic Dialog between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Foreign Political Parties was held Friday in Tangshan City, north China's Hebei Province, gathering some 180 representatives from more than 20 countries to discuss people-centered development.

Sponsored by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee, the thematic dialog centering on "putting the people first" presented China's experiences in poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, and some local officials and university graduates who returned home for rural revitalization shared their stories with the attendees.

These tangible examples of poverty alleviation left a strong impression on the international delegates.

"How did you change it over the last 50 years? Why did you go that way? How did you manage to do this through administration, policies, education? These are the reasons why we are here to look at these. And I think this is what I've seen so far, traveling from Beijing to Hebei Province. The greenery of Hebei Province is unbelievable. It's like a movie. It's really great. The railway road that we were on, very fast. At the same time, we've seen a massive amount of land being turned over for the consumption of 1.4 billion people," said 'Alipate Tu'ivanuavou Vaea, speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga.

"Well, the people are put first here because we can see that in rural revitalization, China has done wonderful, especially compared to other countries. My country, Romania, is uncomparable in rural revitalization. The rural [area] in Romania is left behind. Here in China, the people are empowered by the industry and what they received in the rural development," said Nichita Iris Liga, a member with the Executive Bureau of the Romanian Socialist Party.

Addressing the thematic dialog, Liu Haixing, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, stressed that the CPC has always regarded serving the people and improving their well-being as its foremost achievement.

"The Communist Party of China is committed to seeking happiness for the Chinese people and development for people around the world. Through high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, we aim to achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes with all countries. We are willing to work with political parties in all countries to advance modernization, persist in guaranteeing and improving people's livelihoods in development, and address imbalances and inadequacies both between and within countries, so that development could better benefit people of all countries," said Liu.

China's traditional building materials industry accelerated its structural optimization amid headwinds in the first quarter of this year, with green development emerging as a core growth engine.

As the traditional building materials industry steps up its green transformation, a cumulative total of 29.8 million tons of low-efficiency production capacity has been phased out, reversing the decline of capacity utilization, industry data showed.

The industry of advanced inorganic non-metallic materials, represented by photovoltaic glass, glass fiber and its products, experienced rapid growth. Demand for photovoltaic glass accounted for nearly 50 percent of total flat glass demand, and the total profit of the industry of glass fiber and its products surged by 130 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, green building materials recorded growth in both volume and profitability. By the end of the first quarter, China's certified green building materials increased by 5 percent compared with the end of 2025, and the industry's total profits grew 16.2 percent year on year.

"Ten government departments, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, have jointly issued an implementation plan for high-quality development of the green building materials industry, guiding the green transition of the sector. In the first quarter of the year, the total revenue of the green building materials industry exceeded 61.1 billion yuan (about 8.99 billion U.S. dollars), maintaining a rapid growth of 12 percent and laying a solid foundation for achieving the annual revenue target of 300 billion yuan," said Yan Xiaofeng, president of the China Building Materials Federation.
