Hong Kong affairs are purely China's internal matters, and the central government firmly supports Hong Kong's judicial authorities in performing their duties in accordance with the law, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.
Guo made the statement in response to a media query about Jimmy Lai Chee-ying's case.
"Jimmy Lai was a key planner and participant in the anti-China riots in Hong Kong. Hong Kong affairs are China's internal affairs. The central government of China firmly supports Hong Kong's judicial authorities in performing their duties in accordance with the law," Guo said.
