China and Russia set a model for a new type of international relations and relations between neighboring major countries, said Russian officials and experts.

Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing on Wednesday, with the two sides agreeing to further extend the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.

In interviews with China Media Group (CMG), Russian officials and experts noted that the meeting will propel China-Russia partnership to new heights and make significant contributions to maintaining global strategic stability and improving global governance.

"The meeting of the two leaders is of paramount importance not only for the future of our bilateral relations, but also for the future of greater Eurasia, and the future of the global order as a whole. It serves as the foundation for the development of not only our countries, but the entire world order -- a new order based on multilateralism, equality, and mutual trust. Relations between Russia and China exemplify a strategic relationship featuring mutual trust: respect for each other's interests, non-interference in the interests of the third country, and no intent to oppose one another," said Sergei Gavrilov, a Russian State Duma deputy.

"We base our cooperation on the commitment to good neighborliness, coexisting in the most profitable and peaceful way possible, while not ruling out the participation of the third country in our shared projects. Thus, our relations are inclusive, not exclusive. It is a striking example of how countries can coexist during the formation of a more widespread multipolarity," said Ivan Pyatibratov, associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

Putin's two-day state visit, from May 19 to 20, marked his 25th trip to China. Xi and Putin held talks, chatted over tea, visited a photo exhibition, and witnessed the signing of a slew of cooperation documents in Beijing.
