The 2026 China Graduate Fashion Week concluded in Beijing on Wednesday, after six days during which students showed off designs which creatively incorporated local cultural characteristics into fashionable clothing.
The event drew together more than 3,000 young students from 59 universities across the country.
Students from universities in northeast China incorporated ice and snow elements and magnificent snow-covered forests into modern silhouettes and functional designs, creating ice and snow sportswear that combines warmth and fashion.
Students from the Yangtze River Delta region drew inspiration from classical culture, integrating traditional Zhejiang intangible cultural heritage techniques such as embroidery and tie-dyeing into fashion aimed at contemporary youth.
Students from universities along China's southeast coast drew their inspiration from the vast ocean and the warm and simple folk customs of the region. The Torch Festival in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, the rolling waves, and the lively marine life were transformed into vibrant patterns and three-dimensional silhouettes digitally printed on to fabrics.
"I hope our clothing design will let everyone learn more about the most vibrant folk culture, and I also hope to use a more avant-garde approach to let everyone feel the most authentic local atmosphere," said Yuan Rong a student from the fashion design department at Fuzhou University of International Studies and Trade.
