Strengthening strategic communication between China and the United Kingdom is of greater practical significance amid the current complex and volatile international situation, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Monday.

At the invitation of Wang Yi, a Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper will visit China from Monday to Wednesday and hold the 11th China-UK Strategic Dialogue.

"The China-UK Strategic Dialogue is an important high-level dialogue mechanism between the two countries. In the face of a complex and volatile international situation, strengthening strategic communication is of greater practical significance for China and the UK, two permanent members of the UN Security Council. During the dialogue, the two sides will conduct in-depth exchanges on implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, expanding pragmatic cooperation, and addressing international and regional hotspots. They will also jointly advance the in-depth development of the long-term, stable, and comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the UK, ensuring that the fruits of cooperation better benefit both countries and the world," said the spokesman at a regular press conference in Beijing.

A proposed bill on the management of the Strait of Hormuz has entered the review stage at Iran's Supreme National Security Council and will be submitted to parliament for debate and voting after final conclusions are reached, Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency reported on Wednesday.

No details about the bill's contents were disclosed.

According to the report, work on the legislation has been underway for some time. In addition to the parliamentary review process, several specialized parliamentary committees have participated in studying and assessing the proposal, including the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, the Construction Committee, and the Councils and Internal Affairs Committee.

The report said the committees and several lawmakers had previously submitted separate proposals and drafts. Following a process of coordination and consolidation, a unified text has been prepared and is awaiting further review.
