China, Laos issue joint statement on building all-weather community with shared future in new era

China and Laos have issued a joint statement on building an all-weather China-Laos community with a shared future in the new era.

The joint statement was released as General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith is on a state visit to China from Tuesday to Saturday, at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The statement says the Communist Party of China and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party have agreed to implement the action plan on building a China-Laos community with a shared future (2024-2028).

The two sides pledged to cement high-level political mutual trust, foster high-resilience security cooperation, deepen high-quality and mutually beneficial cooperation, promote frequent people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and maintain high-standard strategic coordination.

The two sides agreed to bring China-Laos relations and their respective modernization drives with distinctive features to a new stage, setting an example for building a community with a shared future for humanity.

The Indian economy registered a full-year real gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of 7.7 percent for the financial year 2025-26 (April 2025-March 2026) as compared to 7.1 percent in FY 2024-25, government data released on Friday showed.

Amid the ongoing Middle East crisis, the country's economy showcased resilience with real GDP expanding by 7.8 percent in the January-March period, figures released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation showed.

According to the ministry, the primary sector observed a 3.2 percent growth rate, mainly driven by the performance of the agriculture and fishery sectors. The data showed that manufacturing, trade, hotels, transport, communication and services related to broadcasting and real estate sectors have attained double-digit growth in the last financial year.
