Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and president of Laos, said President Xi Jinping's thought on governance is deeply impressive, highlighting his far-sighted vision, open-mindedness, and global outlook.

Thongloun arrived in Hangzhou, capital city of east China's Zhejiang Province on Tuesday for a five-day state visit to China at the invitation of Xi. "President Xi's thought on governance is deeply impressive. He is skilled at steering the overall situation, has far-sighted vision, and an open mind. He not only cares for the Chinese people but also embraces the whole world. He hopes for a stable world, a peaceful world, a tranquil world, and hopes that all countries can achieve win-win cooperation and mutual respect. All of this is reflected in the various initiatives he has put forward. I have studied his initiatives," said Thongloun in an exclusive interview with China Media Group (CMG) in Hangzhou on Wednesday.

He was referring to the four global initiatives proposed by Xi since 2021 that encompass global development, security, civilization and governance.

Thongloun said that Xi's global initiatives prioritize equality in promoting world peace and development, particularly at a time when the world faces numerous challenges, including the rise of unilateralism and growing difficulties in global governance.

"All of President Xi's global initiatives emphasize relations among countries on the basis of equality. Whether large countries or small countries, all should treat one another as equals, respect one another, and reject bullying. They call for following the path of globalization, opposing unilateralism, upholding multilateralism, and promoting a multipolar world through consultation. Laos has always been supporting this," said Thongloun.
