Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.4 percent to 4,108.08 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.31 percent higher at 15,880.95 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by these two indices reached 3.09 trillion yuan (about 453.8 billion U.S. dollars), up from 3.06 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Electronic chemicals, memory chips and semiconductor equipment stocks led the gains, while stocks related to tourism and hotel, coal mining and processing, and minor metals were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.56 percent to close at 4,167.05 points Wednesday.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 3.21 percent higher at 2,224.7 points on Wednesday.
